Honoring Frannie Through Generosity

When Vinnie Funelas decided to celebrate his birthday this year, he chose to do something meaningful in memory of his mother-in-law, Frannie Charleston, who had recently passed away after a brave battle with cancer. Instead of gifts, Vinnie invited friends and family to a “HOEdown Throwdown” and asked them to consider donating to Dance for the Cure in Frannie’s honor.

The result was a celebration full of love—and purpose—and it raised $2,265 to support local breast cancer patients in need.

Vinnie is the cousin of our volunteer Brooke Herbst and is married to Robbie Argila Jr. In the photos from the event, you’ll see Vinnie and Robbie surrounded by cousins—Kelly, Kacey, and Frannie—who gathered to remember a woman who meant so much to them and to give back in her name.

We’re always moved by the ways people choose to support Dance for the Cure. Vinnie’s birthday tribute is a great reminder that even personal milestones can become opportunities to help others. And because we’re a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit, every dollar raised goes to patients in Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, and Somerset counties who are struggling with the financial burden that can come with a breast cancer diagnosis.

To Vinnie, Robbie, and everyone who donated—thank you. Your support helps make life a little easier for someone facing a really hard time.
