Rosa Sauers’ daughter Julia studied at the Kathleen Academy of Dance in Hillsborough for years, and that’s where Rosa met Kathleen Ciroli, owner of the studio, and Joanne Liscovitz, a tap instructor. Kathleen and Joanne are the co-founders of Dance for the Cure, and through this connection Rosa learned about DFC and immediately knew she wanted to help. She’s been a beloved Dance for the Cure volunteer ever since.
“It is my pleasure and honor to be a part of such a wonderful organization that supports women going through their cancer treatment. I think every woman fears breast cancer and I’m happy to be able to help Dance for the Cure any way I can”. -Rosa
Today, both Rosa and Julia are volunteers with DFC. Each October during Breast Cancer Awareness month they take part in DFC’s Pink Bow Project where they make beautiful large pink bows and distribute them to the businesses throughout town. While delivering the bows Rosa takes time to share information about Dance for the Cure with the business owners and suggests that they donate a product or service to the organization in support. The business owners get to see how their donations will be put to work helping individuals and families right in their own community.
Rosa takes every opportunity that arises to promote Dance for the Cure. When DFC could not hold their annual fundraiser, Ribbons of Hope, in 2020 due to COVID-19, she decided to hold a Facebook Fundraiser for the cause. Through donations from family and friends, she raised a total of $1,087. On Giving Tuesday, she held yet another online fundraiser to benefit DFC, and she also encourages friends to shop via Amazon Smile and earmark Dance for the Cure as their charity beneficiary.
“Rosa's kind, generous spirit makes her a wonderful volunteer for Dance for the Cure. Her willingness to promote, share and participate in the various projects that come up is very much appreciated. Her daughter Julia is learning about giving back and supporting others through Rosa's example.” -DFC co-founder, Kathleen Cirioli
Rosa is always ready to help others in need and loves doing so. While she supports numerous charities, she states that Dance for the Cure is one of her favorites. We’re so thankful that Rosa is an active member of our community and greatly appreciate all she does for us.
