Dance for the Cure Volunteers Enjoy a Day at the Somerset Patriots Game

Updated: Aug 29

On Sunday, August 24, 2025, Dance for the Cure (DFC) volunteers and their families enjoyed an afternoon of baseball at TD Bank Ballpark, home of the Somerset Patriots, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees.

Thanks to the generosity of the Somerset County Board of County Commissioners, DFC was awarded use of the ballpark’s Community Box, providing a special opportunity for 25 volunteers and their loved ones to gather, cheer, and celebrate the spirit of community that fuels our mission.

The game featured a “Peanuts” theme in honor of the 75th anniversary of the beloved comic strip, adding extra fun to the day. On the field, the Hartford Yard Goats edged out the Patriots with a 1–0 victory, but the real highlight for our group was a special photo opportunity with Sparky Lyle.

Sparky Lyle, who pitched for 16 seasons in Major League Baseball with teams including the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, and Philadelphia Phillies, is best known locally as the first manager of the Somerset Patriots. His leadership helped establish the team as a cornerstone of the Central Jersey community.

Dance for the Cure is proud to share these moments of joy and gratitude with our incredible volunteers, who are at the heart of our 100% volunteer-run organization. Their dedication allows us to continue raising funds and providing financial assistance to breast cancer patients in Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, and Somerset counties.
