DFC Receives $5,000 Grant from Sumas Family Foundation

We are proud to share that Dance for the Cure was selected as a recipient of a $5,000 microgrant from the Sumas Family Foundation’s “YOU CHOOSE. We Give.” program, an initiative of Village Super Market, the company behind many ShopRite stores.

The award came as a surprise to Dance for the Cure co-founder Kathleen Cirioli, who shared:

“It was such an unexpected surprise and honor to answer my phone and be notified that DFC was the recipient of a $5,000 grant from the Sumas Family Foundation. What a wonderful, generous, family foundation that gifts not-for-profits to help them continue their mission.”

The “YOU CHOOSE. We Give.” program empowers Village Super Market associates to nominate nonprofits they care about for monthly $5,000 grants. The Sumas Family Foundation, established in 2019, uses this program to deepen its community impact by uplifting organizations with strong local roots.

Dance for the Cure, a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit, will use these funds to assist local breast cancer patients facing financial hardship. This support helps cover essentials like transportation, medical costs, groceries, and other daily needs that become overwhelming during treatment.

We extend our deepest thanks to the Sumas Family Foundation and the Village Super Market associate who chose to recognize our mission. With continued community support like this, we remain committed to providing help and hope to breast cancer patients in Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, and Somerset counties.
