Volunteer Spotlight: Sally Stevenson

ree

If you’ve spent any time around Basket Central or noticed the bright pink bows decorating local businesses each October, you might’ve seen Sally Stevenson—quietly helping out and making it all look easy.

Sally joined Dance for the Cure in 2023, after a familiar face suggested she get involved.“My tap teacher for over twenty years, Kathleen Cirioli, encouraged me to volunteer,” she shared. “I started out making and delivering pink bows. Then I became a Helper Bee at Basket Central. I love being part of the Basket Genie magic!”

“Sally has been an eager volunteer for the past few years, first with the Pink Bow Project and now jumping in however she’s needed.”— Kathleen Cirioli, Co-founder

In just a short time, Sally has become a go-to helper across DFC’s biggest efforts. Whether she's pitching in on the Pink Bow Project or helping prep the hundreds of raffle baskets that take center stage at Ribbons of Hope, Sally shows up with energy, a sense of humor, and often, her family.

“She’s even recruited her husband and son this year,” Kathleen added. “They’ll be part of our team of '50/50 guys' at the event!”

For Sally, one of the unexpected perks of volunteering has been the camaraderie.

“Socializing at various DFC events with the other volunteers and their families is a great way to foster community and have fun,” she said. “Everyone is here for the same reason, and that brings people together in a really special way.”

“Sally is a breath of fresh air, and a fabulous Helper Bee willing to help with whatever needs to be done—always bringing her sense of humor!”— Joanne Liscovitz, Co-founder

At its core, volunteering with Dance for the Cure is about supporting people in need—and Sally doesn’t lose sight of that.

“Volunteering with DFC reminds us that we rise by lifting others,” she said.

Sally brings her energy and kindness wherever she’s needed—quietly making a difference in ways that matter.
