Dance for the Cure Recognized for Outstanding Contributions to Breast Cancer Community
Dance for the Cure was recognized for its outstanding efforts in 2022. The organization received prestigious proclamations from the Borough of Somerville, Hillsborough Township, Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners, the Township of Warren and Bridgewater Township, as well as a resolution from South Brunswick Township. Additionally, Dance for the Cure co-founder, Kathleen Cirioli, was invited to attend a meeting of the Raritan Township Committee to share the mission and history of Dance for the Cure.
These recognitions highlight the significant impact that Dance for the Cure has had in the local community, and serve as a testament to the dedication and hard work of the organization's volunteers.
One of the key ways that Dance for the Cure supports breast cancer patients and their families is through the provision of monetary gifts. To date the organization has gifted over $925,000 to women in need. In addition to this, the organization promotes breast cancer awareness through two initiatives: Tie the Town Pink and The Pink Bow Project.
For Tie the Town Pink, volunteers decorate the streets, trees, railings, and flagpoles around the municipal complexes of Somerset, Hunterdon and Middlesex counties to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Pink Bow Project involves volunteers making and distributing big pink bows to area stores and businesses during the month of October.
